Concept art

It was only a concept, but this was an early cover design for City of Stars (with an earlier title). It’s not a good match for the current titles in the genre, so won’t be used, but I loved it so much that I wanted to share it. (Also, I may have spent rather more time on it than I ought to have.)

It was inspired by a very old copy of Forerunner Foray (it was written in the mid 70s, and I read it around 1993), by Andre Norton – unfortunately, I can’t find an image of it, but I checked it out of the school library in seventh or eighth grade at least 10 times (Thanks Mrs. Allen!). Andre Norton’s stuff was so formative when I was just starting to read science fiction and fantasy, and I still enjoy the worlds she created.
